Clime Outright Winning Team at the 2008 Bulls and Bears Trophy
Thursday 13 March 2008 – Macquarie Links International Golf Course
Clime’s newly crowned championship golfing team overcame stiff odds and the fear of brown snakes to claim the outright winning team at the 7th 2008 Bulls and Bears Perpetual Trophy at Macquarie Links International Golf Course.
With the team starting the day on an average handicap of over 25, their fearless leader John Abernethy (JA) lead the troops, including equities analyst Russell Muldoon and marketing gurus Andrew Martin and Vanessa Dibben, into battle.
The first hole was a pearler, and it just got better from there!
Starting the day on the 15th, it didn’t take long to warm up. JA kicked off with the straightest, most perfect drive any of the team had ever seen. By the 18th, everyone agreed that he was having “the best game of my life!”. As for the rest of the team, everyone did their bit to claim the prized trophy.
The 1st hole marked the spirit of the day – a charity competition to benefit Ploy Sirangangyong, a young girl with a severe visual impairment. By the 8th the team were buying raffle tickets like there was no tomorrow and lucky they did, because Andy picked up the Diamond Lottery – a lovely pair of diamond earings. Too bad for Vanessa, she doesn’t have her ears pierced!
Balls were lost and Balls were found (Andy even retrieved a few from the ponds). Whilst Russell Muldoon (aka John Daley) had the odd run in with his driver, he did pound the fairway with some massive tee shots. Andy was the team’s fairway man, lobbing them from 200m out onto the green, whilst Vanessa came through with chip shots equal to the precision of a brain surgeon.
As outright winners, the team claimed the opportunity to compete in the Charity Challenge in November 2008, again at Macquarie Links. If they take out that title, the next step - Masters at Huntingdale.
So look out Macquarie, Wilson Asset Management, ABN AMRO, JP Morgan, Adelaide Bank and CMC Markets – the Clime kids have been released. Charity days will never be the same again!
The golfers would like to say a special thank you to the StockVal.com.au Team for their support and encouragement. Their dedication to the cause and commitment to the seminar in Penrith Panthers the same night was an inspiration to all.
