A lot of the information that other fund managers take as gospel, such as market sectors, P/E ratios and indexing (where the investment reflects the overall market) is not relevant to Clime. We value companies, follow the ones that we think are ‘good’, and invest in the ones that represent value.
As a value investor we believe that the price of a company does not necessarily reflect it’s “true value”. A company’s value can be derived by looking at it’s profitability (rather than absolute profit), in conjunction with the risk involved in investing in that company. That risk is assessed by considering both internal and external factors that affect the company. Combining these generates an intrinsic value for a company’s stock.
