Chief Investment Officer
As Clime’s Chief Investment Officer, John Abernethy has overall responsibility for funds management. John has over 25 years experience in funds management. Prior to establishing Clime, John’s roles included ten years at NRMA Investments as the head of equities, where he successfully managed investment portfolios totalling $2 billion.
John founded Clime (formerly Loftus Capital Partners) in 1996. Through Loftus Capital partners, he advised high net worth individuals on their investments and managed portfolios on their behalf.
Head of Investments
Anthony has 20 years investment experience and is passionate about developing innovative solutions aligned with investor objectives, particularly those in or approaching retirement.
Anthony joins Clime from State Street Global Advisors where his most recent roles included Senior Portfolio Strategist – Asia Pacific, Head of Active Australian Equities and Senior Portfolio Manager. He has significant experience in domestic and international equities, return enhancing and risk reducing overlays and objective based strategy development.
Anthony holds a Bachelor of Mathematics and Finance degree with First Class Honours from the University of Technology, Sydney, and is a CFA charterholder. He is involved in the community supporting Sylvanvale Disability Services and Tour de Cure.
Portfolio Review Committee Member
Paul Zwi has more than 20 years varied experience in the investment and financial services industry, with the focus having been on equity research and wealth management opportunities for high net worth clients.
Prior to Clime, Paul’s most recent position was with Centric Wealth, where he spent 5 years as Head of Equity Research and Senior Research Analyst. Prior to Centric, Paul was head of BT’s Private Client business for 5 years, being responsible for a team of Portfolio Managers managing discretionary portfolios of $1.5 billion.
Team Leader, Senior Analyst – Smaller Companies
Adrian joined Clime Investment Management in April 2007 and is responsible for identifying and evaluating investment opportunities across a broad range of sectors. In addition, Adrian has primary responsibility for the management of Clime’s Small Cap Sub-Portfolios and the Clime Smaller Companies Fund.
Prior to joining Clime, Adrian held various positions in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), sporting and real estate industries.
Adrian holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Wollongong, a Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance from Kaplan Professional and a Graduate Certificate of Sports Management from the University of Canberra.
He retains a healthy passion for sport, having previously played representative cricket in England and locally for Illawarra, North Sydney, NSW Country & Australian Country.
Dr Vincent Chin
Vincent joined Clime in February 2009 and is an experienced equity research analyst and a specialist in quantitative analysis and valuation techniques. Before joining Clime, he gained his investment experience with Ausbil Dexia and Maxim Asset Management. Prior to this, Vincent completed 17 years of research and development in the semi-conductor industry.
Vincent’s key responsibilities consist of the dealing and execution of trades, portfolio management – Income Portfolio & Funds and attribution analysis.
Vincent has a PhD Physics, MSc Physics, BSc Chemical Engineering, and F. Fin.
David joined Clime Investment Management in June 2013 and is responsible for identifying opportunities in the banking, retail and telecommunication sectors. He also produces Clime’s economic forecasts, manages the StocksInValue ASX Model Portfolio and represents Clime in the media and at external presentations. David has over 20 years’ experience in economics, equities research and funds management. After a career in economic forecasting at the Commonwealth Department of Finance David worked in tactical asset allocation for UK and European pension funds at Mercury Asset Management in London. He then returned to Australia to work at Morningstar and its predecessors as a senior analyst covering the banking, insurance, diversified financials and diversified industrials sectors.
David holds a Bachelor of Economics degree from the University of Sydney and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from Finsia. He is a Senior Fellow of Finsia and a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Jonathan joined Clime Investment Management in 2014 and is responsible for identifying and evaluating investment opportunities across a range of sectors within the Australian market with a particular focus on smaller companies. Jonathan has successfully completed all three levels of the CFA program having previously completed a Bachelor of Engineering and Commerce degree at the Australian National University.
Gareth originally joined Clime Investment Management in 2012 in a client support role for StocksInValue. More recently, he joined at the end of 2014 as an Associate Analyst and is responsible for identifying and researching investment opportunities, specifically in international markets.
Before working at Clime, Gareth worked for 3 years as a broker at Norris Smith Securities. His key responsibilities are dealing on Clime’s managed funds as well as selective qualitative company research.
Gareth is currently completing his B.Comm at the University of New South Wales.
Damen joined Clime Investment Management in October 2014 and is responsible for identifying and evaluating investment opportunities across a range of sectors within the Australian market, as well as developing and maintaining various aspects of Clime’s screening, valuation and portfolio monitoring tools. Damen holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Sydney.
Hugo De Vries
Dealer & Implementation Specialist
Hugo joined Clime Investment Management in February 2017 and has recently taken up the role of Dealer and Implementation Specialist. His responsibilities include the execution and allocation of trades across our growth portfolios.
Hugo currently holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Macquarie University.
